EWANGELIA - Mk 6, 45-52 (Jezus chodzi po wodzie)

Kiedy Jezus nasycił pięć tysięcy mężczyzn, zaraz przynaglił swych uczniów, żeby wsiedli do łodzi i wyprzedzili Go na drugi brzeg, do Betsaidy, zanim sam odprawi tłum. Rozstawszy się więc z nimi, odszedł na górę, aby się modlić.
Wieczór zapadł, łódź była na środku jeziora, a On sam jeden na lądzie. Widząc, jak się trudzili przy wiosłowaniu, bo wiatr był im przeciwny, około czwartej straży nocnej przyszedł do nich, krocząc po jeziorze, i chciał ich minąć.
Oni zaś, gdy Go ujrzeli kroczącego po jeziorze, myśleli, że to zjawa, i zaczęli krzyczeć. Widzieli Go bowiem wszyscy i zatrwożyli się. Lecz On zaraz przemówił do nich: «Odwagi, to Ja jestem, nie bójcie się!» I wszedł do nich do łodzi, a wiatr się uciszył.
Wtedy oni tym bardziej zdumieli się w duszy, nie zrozumieli bowiem zajścia z chlebami, gdyż umysł ich był otępiały.

MEDYTACJA

Apostołowie doświadczają zmęczenia, trudu fizycznego związanego z wiosłowaniem pod wiatr, niewyspania. Nad ranem po całej nocy wysiłków dochodzi do tego jeszcze lęk związany ze zjawiskiem, którego nie rozumieją...

W te wszystkie trudne emocje, zmęczenie i lęk apostołów wchodzi Jezus. Przychodzi jak Bóg – idąc po jeziorze, objawiając „Ja jestem”, czyli swoje imię,
i uciszając wiatr. Ale jednocześnie jest w tej sytuacji bliski jak człowiek, dodając apostołom odwagi i wchodząc do łodzi, by dzielić z nimi niewygodę twardej ławki i zimno poranka...

Na uwagę zasługuje komentarz autora Ewangelii, że apostołowie byli zdumieni tym, co zrobił Jezus, bo nie zrozumieli zdarzenia z chlebami. Często trudno jest zrozumieć działanie Boga w naszym życiu. Tak bardzo przekracza nasze pojmowanie, że czasami nie widzimy całego kontekstu sytuacji. Albo jest tak ukryte
w codziennym życiu, w gestach lub słowach zwyczajnych ludzi wokół nas, że trudno nam je odkryć...

"Jeżeli miłujemy się wzajemnie, Bóg trwa w nas" (1 J 4, 12)...

By zachować atmosferę Bożego Narodzenia i Jego orędzie należy zachować przykazania miłości. Musimy to sobie ciągle przypominać. Tylko wtedy Bóg będzie
w nas trwał. Najważniejszym środowiskiem realizacji tego przykazania jest rodzina. Przyjrzyjmy się dobrze naszym relacjom rodzinnym. Pomyślmy, co można udoskonalić. Pozwólmy, by miłość Boga jednoczyła nas jak najmocniej...

Po cudownym rozmnożeniu chleba, Jezus przynagla uczniów, aby ‘wyprzedzili Go na drugi brzeg’. To obraz wspólnoty, która doświadczyła cudów i wielkich rzeczy, ale musi się skonfrontować z wyzwaniami (‘nieobecność’ Jezusa, przeciwny wiatr, noc, niebezpieczna toń wody, różnorakie ‘zjawy’)...

Ewangelista Marek mówi o dwóch powodach trudnych przeżyć uczniów: nie rozumieli ‘sprawy z chlebami’ i mieli ‘otępiały umysł’. To jest wyzwanie dla uczniów wszystkich czasów, także dzisiaj. My też bowiem mamy ‘ziemską mentalność’, która wykorzystuje Pana do naszych ‘ziemskich rozgrywek’...

„Odwagi, Ja jestem...” Przestraszeni uczniowie, zjawa, emocje aż po krzyk zdradzają wielkie poruszenie wśród apostołów. Opis tego spotkania Jezusa
z uczniami przypomina sceny ukazywania się Zmartwychwstałego. Przeciwności, z którymi musimy dzisiaj zmagać się wzywają nas do życia eucharystią oraz ‘jasności umysłu’...

Jezus jest naszym ratownikiem. Doświadczamy tego, gdy ucisza nasze burze życiowe, szczególnie te, kiedy wydawało się, że nie ma szans na ich ogarnięcie...

Ewangelista Marek, poza wszystkim innym, zwraca jeszcze uwagę na coś niezwykle istotnego, czyli na 'nasycenie'. Zastanówmy się, co nas nasyca, co daje spełnienie: On czy pogoń za sukcesem, władzą, pieniędzmi. Oby to był On...

Każdy z nas jest spragniony miłości. Chcemy jej doświadczać, choć sami z miłowaniem mamy trudności. A skoro jest ona gwarancją obecności Boga w nas, to warto o nią powalczyć. By zacząć miłować, trzeba najpierw dostrzec bliźniego. Niestety, koncentrując się zbyt często na sobie, trudno zobaczyć, że jest tuż obok...

Miłość bliźniego ma zawsze na względzie jego dobro. Gdy pomagamy, upominamy, mówimy coś życzliwego, powinniśmy wiedzieć dlaczego to czynimy. Szczere rozpoznanie własnych intencji obnaża prawdę o naszej miłości...

Uczniowie Jezusa widzą, jak cudownie rozmnaża pięć chlebów i dwie ryby. Karmi nimi do syta pięć tysięcy mężczyzn. W niepojęty sposób chodzi po jeziorze.
A uczniowie byli zdumieni. Nie rozumieli, bo ich umysły były otępiałe? Brzmi to nieprawdopodobnie, bo widzieli takie cuda, a tylko dziwią się, choć już znają Jezusa...

Zbyt często nie ufamy Jezusowi. Chcemy po swojemu, chcemy Go poprawiać. Obyśmy rozumieli, że On jest Panem, który wie wszystko i może wszystko...

...Jezu, proszę o dogłębne doświadczenie Twojej obecności w stanach bezradności... Proszę o łaskę otwarcia oczu i serca na 'Twoje przychodzenie'... Dziękuję za ‘przywoływanie mnie do porządku’ i odrywanie mnie od błahych spraw...

GOSPEL - Mk 6, 45-52 (Jesus walks on the water)

When Jesus had satisfied the five thousand men, he immediately made his disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side to Bethsaida, while he sent the crowd away. So he left them and went up a mountain to pray.
It was evening, and the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he alone on the land. When he saw them struggling to row, because the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the lake, intending to pass by them.
But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought it was an apparition, and they cried out. For they all saw him and were troubled. But immediately he said to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid!" And he entered into the boat with them, and the wind ceased.
Then they were even more amazed in their souls, for they did not understand the incident with the loaves, because their minds were dull.

MEDITATION

The apostles experience fatigue, the physical toil associated with rowing against the wind, lack of sleep. In the morning, after a whole night of effort, there is also fear associated with a phenomenon that they do not understand...

Jesus enters into all these difficult emotions, fatigue and fear of the apostles. He comes as God - walking on the lake, revealing "I am", that is, his name, and calming the wind. But at the same time he is close to this situation as a man, giving the apostles courage and entering the boat to share with them the discomfort of the hard bench and the cold of the morning...

The comment of the author of the Gospel that the apostles were amazed at what Jesus did because they did not understand the incident with the loaves is worth noting. It is often difficult to understand God's action in our lives. It is so beyond our understanding that sometimes we do not see the whole context of the situation. Or it is so hidden in everyday life, in the gestures or words of ordinary people around us, that it is difficult for us to discover it...

"If we love one another, God abides in us" (1 Jn 4:12)...

To preserve the atmosphere of Christmas and its message, we must keep the commandments of love. We must constantly remind ourselves of this. Only then will God abide in us. The most important environment for implementing this commandment is the family. Let us take a good look at our family relationships. Let us think about what can be improved. Let us allow the love of God to unite us as strongly as possible...

After the miraculous multiplication of the loaves, Jesus urges the disciples to 'go ahead of him to the other side'. This is a picture of a community that has experienced miracles and great things, but must confront challenges (the ‘absence’ of Jesus, the opposing wind, the night, the dangerous depth of the water, various ‘apparitions’)...

The evangelist Mark speaks of two reasons for the difficult experiences of the disciples: they did not understand the ‘matter of the loaves’ and their ‘minds were dulled’. This is a challenge for disciples of all times, including today. We too have an ‘earthly mentality’ that uses the Lord for our ‘earthly games’...

“Take courage, I am…” The frightened disciples, the apparition, the emotions to the point of screaming reveal great commotion among the apostles. The description of this meeting of Jesus with the disciples recalls scenes of the appearances of the Risen One. The adversities we must struggle with today call us to live the Eucharist and to have ‘clarity of mind’...

Jesus is our rescuer. We experience this when He calms our life storms, especially those when it seemed that there was no chance of containing them...

The evangelist Mark, apart from everything else, also draws attention to something extremely important, namely 'satiation'. Let us consider what satisfies us, what gives us fulfillment: Him or the pursuit of success, power, money. Let it be Him...

Each of us is thirsty for love. We want to experience it, although we ourselves have difficulty loving. And since it is a guarantee of God's presence in us, it is worth fighting for it. To start loving, we must first notice our neighbor. Unfortunately, focusing too often on ourselves, it is difficult to see that He is right next to us...

Love for one's neighbor always has their good in mind. When we help, admonish, say something kind, we should know why we are doing it. Sincere recognition of our own intentions exposes the truth about our love...

The disciples of Jesus see how He miraculously multiplies five loaves and two fish. He feeds five thousand men with them until they are satisfied. In an incomprehensible way he walks on the lake. And the disciples were amazed. They did not understand because their minds were dull? It sounds unbelievable, because they have seen such miracles, and they are only surprised, although they already know Jesus...

Too often we do not trust Jesus. We want to do things our way, we want to correct Him. May we understand that He is the Lord who knows everything and can do everything...

...Jesus, I ask for a profound experience of Your presence in states of helplessness... I ask for the grace to open my eyes and hearts to 'Your coming'... Thank you for 'calling me to order' and distracting me from trivial matters...
