NIEDZIELA, Trzecia Niedziela Adwentu EWANGELIA - Łk 3, 10-18 (Zapowiedź nowego chrztu) Gdy Jan nauczał nad Jordanem, pytały go tłumy: «Cóż mamy czynić?» On im odpowiadał: «Kto ma dwie suknie, niech się podzieli z tym, który nie ma; MEDYTACJA Bywają takie chwile, gdy trudno nam podjąć decyzję. Niekiedy zastanawiamy się, czy jest jakieś wyjście z sytuacji, w której się znajdujemy. Być może doświadczamy wtedy pomocy innych, zaufanych osób... Pytający Jana, chcą zasięgnąć porady, co czynić, by być lepszym człowiekiem. Choć każdy z nich miał inną sytuację życiową, Jan był w stanie znaleźć coś prostego i zwyczajnego, co mogłoby im pomóc w czynieniu dobra... Pomyślmy o ludziach czekających na chrzest. Poprośmy Ducha Świętego, by nadzieja i radość płynące z nauczania Jana, stały się również naszym udziałem... Pytanie postawione Janowi Chrzcicielowi: "Cóż mamy czynić?", nie jest nam obce. Od dzieciństwa wielokrotnie je zadawaliśmy i odkrywaliśmy prawdę Bóg nie chce zrobić z człowieka marionetki, bo Jemu zależy na wolności, ani nigdy nie doradzi źle. On oczekuje, że będziemy Jemu zadawać to pytanie, a On chętnie odpowie ciszą, w której jest prawda o nas... Jan Chrzciciel to pierwowzór człowieka, którego Bóg ‘przygotował sobie’, aby stał przed Jego obliczem, rozpoznał przyjście Pana i otwierał innym drogę do Niego... Jan Chrzciciel jest ‘żyjącą syntezą’ całej historii, Starego Testamentu. Żyje w oczekiwaniu na ‘przyszłość’ Boga. Wzywa ludzi do zerwania z przyzwyczajeniami „Cóż więc mamy czynić?” To pytanie rozpoczyna proces nawrócenia. Zakłada uznanie błędów, niewiedzę, co robić, ale i gotowość do przyjęcia Bożych wskazań Jan Chrzciciel zachęca do braterstwa, które jest sprawiedliwe i solidarne. Jezus uzupełni je zaproszeniem do postawy miłosierdzia... Tłumy, usłyszawszy nakaz, by wydawać 'godne owoce' pytają o to, w jaki sposób ma wyrażać się ich nawrócenie. Mają dzielić się tym, co mają, nie mają pobierać więcej ponad to, co im wyznaczono, mają nikogo nie uciskać i nie wymuszać pieniędzy... Odpowiedź Jana jest dostosowana do sposobu życia, do zawodu pytających. Prorok jasno odpowiada, że on nie jest pierwszym, Mesjaszem. Jan Chrzciciel jednoznacznie komunikował, że idzie za nim Ktoś szczególny, Mesjasz, z którym absolutnie nie może się równać... Wyzwalający w życiu jest moment, kiedy zrozumiemy, że jest On i że to On absolutnie jest pierwszy. Tak samo jak Jego zasady zapisane w Ewangelii: przykazania miłości i dekalog... Znamy swoją słabość. Wiemy, co nas przytłacza. Policzyć możemy swoje grzechy. Ale też wierzymy i ufamy, że obok stoi Mocniejszy od nas. Choć nie jesteśmy godni rozwiązać Mu rzemyka u sandałów, On nie odstąpi od nas. Oddali wszystkie wyroki... Tak, oczyszczanie z plew będzie bolesne. Ale jaką radością będzie smakowanie wybornej pszenicy zaprawionej Jego odwieczną miłością... Życie stawia nam wciąż wiele pytań. Czasem ktoś taki jak Jan Chrzciciel, człowiek Boga, postawi nam pytanie, które wryje się na zawsze w nasz mózg i nasze serce... Skuteczność przekazywania innym prawdy przejawia się w pytaniach, jakie ona budzi. O mocy i skuteczności przepowiadania Jana Chrzciciela nad rzeką Jordan świadczyły pytania, jakie budziły się w sercach urzędników, żołnierzy i pobożnych pielgrzymów: „Co mamy robić?”. Błogosławione pytania, które ożywiają w nas namaszczone Duchem Świętym słowo Boga... Nie potrafimy wyjaśnić kwestii najistotniejszych: Boga, sensu życia i przeznaczenia człowieka. A te pytania są decydujące. To one sprawiają, że jesteśmy ludźmi i wyrażają odczuwany przez nas głód sensu... Deprecjonowanie pytań o Boga, sens życia i przeznaczenie człowieka upokarza odczuwaną tęsknotę za 'czymś więcej'. Odbiera radość, potęguje samotność Ludzka potrzeba szukania Boga jest gorącym pragnieniem, aby Mu się podobać. Podoba się Bogu zaś ten, kto nie zadowala się życiem powierzchownym. Szukanie Boga oznacza niestrudzone zadawanie właściwych pytań, ponieważ to, co wiemy o Bogu na tej ziemi, nie chroni nas przed pokusą budowania własnego obrazu o Nim... Pytanie: „Czy Bóg, w którego wierzę i któremu powierzyłem swoje życie, jest Bogiem Jezusa Chrystusa, głoszonym przez Kościół i celebrowanym w liturgii?” pozostaje wciąż aktualnym niepokojem duszy... Szukanie Boga często jest naznaczone walką, cierpieniem, niezrozumieniem świata, a nawet wrażeniem biegania na próżno. Lecz nie można się tego wyrzec, ponieważ bez Chrystusa człowiek nie jest w stanie zrozumieć sensu swojego życia ani nie może osiągnąć celu, dla którego został stworzony. Na szczęście pojawiają się od czasu do czasu przed nami prorocy budzący niepokój i stawiający bezcenne pytania... ...Jezu, proszę o łaskę otwarcia się na oczyszczającą moc Słowa Bożego... Proszę o łaskę nawrócenia umysłu i serca oraz postawę przebaczenia i miłosierdzia... Dziękuję za dar sakramentu pokuty, przestrzeń miłosierdzia... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUNDAY, Third Sunday of Advent GOSPEL - Lk 3, 10-18 (Announcement of the new baptism) While John was teaching in the Jordan, the crowds asked him, "What shall we do?" He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise." MEDITATION There are times when it is difficult for us to make a decision. Sometimes we wonder if there is any way out of the situation we are in. Perhaps then we experience the help of other, trusted people... Those who ask John want to seek advice on what to do to be a better person. Although each of them had a different life situation, John was able to find something simple and ordinary that could help them do good... Let us think of the people waiting to be baptized. Let us ask the Holy Spirit that the hope and joy that flow from John's teaching may also become ours... The question put to John the Baptist: "What must we do?" is not foreign to us. Since childhood, we have asked it many times and discovered the truth about ourselves... God does not want to make a puppet of man, because he cares about freedom, and he will never give bad advice. He expects us to ask him this question, John the Baptist is the prototype of the man whom God "prepared for himself" to stand before his face, to recognize the coming of the Lord and to open John the Baptist is the "living synthesis" of the whole of history, of the Old Testament. He lives in expectation of the "future" of God. He calls people to break with their habits and patterns and turn towards this divine ‘perspective’. He is not the centre. It is beyond him, in the promise of God... “What then must we do?” This question begins the process of conversion. It presupposes the recognition of errors, not knowing what to do, but also John the Baptist encourages a brotherhood that is just and solidary. Jesus will complement it with an invitation to an attitude of mercy... The crowds, having heard the command to bear ‘worthy fruit’, ask how their conversion should be expressed. They should share what they have, they should not take more than what has been assigned to them, they should not oppress anyone or extort money... John’s answer is adapted to the way of life, to the profession of the questioners. The prophet clearly answers that he is not the first, the Messiah. John The moment of liberation in life is when we understand that He exists and that He is absolutely the first. Just like His principles written in the Gospel: We know our weakness. We know what overwhelms us. We can count our sins. But we also believe and trust that Someone Stronger than us stands next to us. Although we are not worthy of untying the strap of His sandals, He will not abandon us. They have cast off all judgments... Yes, cleansing the chaff will be painful. But what a joy it will be to taste the exquisite wheat seasoned with His eternal love... Life still asks us many questions. Sometimes someone like John the Baptist, a man of God, will ask us a question that will be forever etched in our brain The effectiveness of communicating the truth to others is manifested in the questions it raises. The power and effectiveness of John the Baptist's preaching on the Jordan River were evidenced by the questions that arose in the hearts of officials, soldiers and pious pilgrims: "What must we do?" Blessed questions that bring to life in us the anointed word of God by the Holy Spirit... We are unable to explain the most essential issues: God, the meaning of life and human destiny. And these questions are decisive. They are what make us human and express the hunger for meaning that we feel... The deprecation of questions about God, the meaning of life, and human destiny humiliates the longing felt for ‘something more’. It takes away joy, increases loneliness, and reinforces the fear of insignificance. It deprives the human community of its heart, reducing it to a collection of competing desires, limited by the authorities and managed by experts. It causes an inner restlessness that is both stimulating and exhausting… The human need to seek God is a burning desire to please Him. God is pleased by those who are not satisfied with a superficial life. Seeking God means tirelessly asking the right questions, because what we know about God on this earth does not protect us from the temptation to build our own image of Him… The question: “Is the God in whom I believe and to whom I have entrusted my life the God of Jesus Christ, proclaimed by the Church and celebrated Searching for God is often marked by struggle, suffering, misunderstanding of the world, and even the impression of running in vain. But we cannot renounce it, because without Christ man is not able to understand the meaning of his life nor can he achieve the purpose for which he was created. Fortunately, from time to time prophets appear before us who arouse anxiety and ask invaluable questions... ...Jesus, I ask for the grace of opening myself to the purifying power of the Word of God...
