CZWARTEK, Dzień powszedni EWANGELIA - Mt 11, 11-15 (Nie ma większego człowieka od Jana Chrzciciela) Jezus powiedział do tłumów: MEDYTACJA Pobyt na pustyni zostawił trwały ślad w sercu Jana. Dzięki temu stał się mistrzem pokory i mógł przemawiać do tłumów, nie ulegając pokusie pychy. Słowo Boga, najdroższy skarb, którym codziennie karmił się, przenikało go i było radością jego serca... Wielkim pragnieniem Jana była walka o Królestwo Boga. Pustynia stała się dla niego areną zmagań z sobą. Jego celem było wewnętrzne uwolnienie, wyzwolenie i zwycięstwo nad tym wszystkim, co odbiera życie. W konsekwencji zachował wolność i radość serca... Jan był gwałtownikiem i głosicielem Słowa, ale najpierw nauczył się słuchać. Z jego pustynnego milczenia i zanurzenia w Sercu Boga wypływało słowo prawdy "A od czasu Jana Chrzciciela aż dotąd królestwo niebieskie doznaje gwałtu, a zdobywają je ludzie gwałtowni" (Mt 11, 12)... Misją życiową Jana Chrzciciela było przygotowanie ludzi na przyjście Mesjasza – Chrystusa. Jan Chrzciciel poświęcił całe swoje życie temu zadaniu i był gotów ponieść śmierć, by pozostać wiernym swojemu powołaniu. Jeżeli pragniemy zbawienia, dostąpienia chwały królestwa niebieskiego, to musimy z pełnym zaangażowaniem i poświęceniem walczyć o ten cel... Nasze życie jest nieustanną walką, podczas której dokonujemy wyborów między dobrem a złem. Walcząc o naszą świętość, pamiętajmy, że naszą siłą jest Jezus Chrystus. Gdy powierzymy się bezgranicznie Bogu, możemy być pewni zwycięstwa... Jan Chrzciciel był ostatnim z proroków zapowiadających przyjście Mesjasza, ale też miał przywilej i obowiązek wskazania na Niego. Jest prorokiem pomiędzy Starym Przymierzem i nowymi czasami. Nie chodzi tyle o ‘jego osobistą godność’, ale o szczególną rolę i zadanie, jakie mu zostało powierzone... Jezus jest najważniejszy. Jan ma Go rozpoznać i na Niego wskazać. Nie odbywa się to bez trudności. Jezus docenia świadectwo Jana, porównując jego gorliwość Gwałtem zdobywać niebo. Nie wystarczy być ‘ekspertem od poglądów’, nauczycielem teoretykiem. Mamy szukać prawdy, stawać się jej głosem, prowadząc innych do Chrystusa. Gwałt to przebojowość w odwadze przebaczania, miłosierdzia i służby... Ewangelista Mateusz przekonuje, kto jest naszym źródłem pokrzepienia, siłą do chrześcijańskiego życia. Zastanawia się nad tym, co symbolizują, znaczą, wszystkie cuda, uzdrowienia i pozostałe fakty, które uczynił Jezus, może to On, że jest zapowiadanym Mesjaszem?... Jan Chrzciciel miał konkretną misję do wykonania, którą w pełni zrealizował, choć po ludzku, nie zakończyła się dobrze, bo zginął ścięty z rozkazu Heroda... Jan Chrzciciel przygotowywał drogę dla nadchodzącego Chrystusa. Bardzo podobnie jest z nami. Mamy powołanie, jako chrześcijanie, do bycia świetnymi ludźmi. Do bycia 'pro' w swoim powołaniu, a nie do bycia biernymi w 'pokornym' przekonaniu o swojej beznadziejności. Mamy być ludźmi może nie Jan Chrzciciel to największy z Bożych ludzi, który jednak nie doznał łaski największego wywyższenia, jakim jest bycie uczniem Chrystusa, bycie przez chrzest dzieckiem Bożym. W niczym to jego wielkości nie umniejsza. Raczej uświadamia, jak wielkiej łaski my doświadczyliśmy przez to, że Bóg obdarzył nas wiarą, chrztem, bierzmowaniem, możliwością przyjmowania Go w Komunii i innymi sakramentami… Postać Jana Chrzciciela ciągle zadziwia i niepokoi. Ciągle jest wyrzutem, że jesteśmy za mało gorliwy, i ciągle jest przypomnieniem, że trzeba, by Jezus, Jego sprawa w świecie, rosła, a nie nasza chwała i rozpoznawalność... Większy od Jana Chrzciciela? Od tego, który jest największy? Brzmi to jak paradoks. Ale, jak mówi Jezus, tak właśnie jest, bo Jan Chrzciciel należy jeszcze do starego porządku spraw. Liczył się jego osobisty wysiłek, jego osobista doskonałość... Ci, którzy przyjęli Jezusa, nie są już zdani tylko na samych siebie. Dana jest im Boża łaska, dar zjednoczenia z Bogiem, życia Bożego w nich. I to daje więcej niż możemy osiągnąć własnymi siłami... Może nam wydawać się, że przed Bogiem jesteśmy do niczego, niewiele dla Niego znaczymy. To nieprawda. Znaczymy dla Niego bardzo dużo. Właśnie to, jak wiele nam dał, o tym świadczy... ...Jezu, proszę o życie oddane Tobie i Twojej misji... Proszę o łaskę pokory, bym umiał podjąć ‘ryzyko’ pójścia za Tobą... Dziękuję za ‘znaki’, jakie stawiasz na mojej drodze... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THURSDAY, Weekday GOSPEL - Mt 11, 11-15 (There is no greater man than John the Baptist) Jesus said to the crowds: MEDITATION The stay in the desert left a lasting mark on John's heart. Thanks to this, he became a master of humility and was able to speak to the crowds without succumbing to the temptation of pride. The Word of God, the most precious treasure that he fed on daily, permeated him and was the joy of his heart... John's great desire was to fight for the Kingdom of God. The desert became an arena of struggle with himself for him. His goal was inner liberation, liberation and victory over all that takes away life. As a result, he retained freedom and joy of heart... John was a violent man and a preacher of the Word, but first he learned to listen. From his desert silence and immersion in the Heart of God flowed the word of truth and power. The desert taught him simplicity and trust... "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force" (Mt 11:12)... John the Baptist's life mission was to prepare people for the coming of the Messiah - Christ. John the Baptist devoted his entire life to this task and was ready to suffer death in order to remain faithful to his calling. If we desire salvation, to attain the glory of the kingdom of heaven, then we must fight for this goal with full commitment and dedication... Our life is a constant battle, during which we make choices between good and evil. Fighting for our holiness, let us remember that our strength is Jesus Christ. When we entrust ourselves completely to God, we can be sure of victory... John the Baptist was the last of the prophets announcing the coming of the Messiah, but he also had the privilege and duty to point to Him. He is a prophet between the Old Covenant and the new times. It is not so much about 'his personal dignity', but about the special role and task that was entrusted to him... Jesus is the most important. John is to recognize Him and point to Him. This does not happen without difficulty. Jesus appreciates John's testimony, comparing his zeal and courage to the old prophet... Conquering heaven by force. It is not enough to be an 'expert in opinions', a theoretician teacher. We are to seek the truth, become its voice, leading others to Christ. Violence is assertiveness in the courage of forgiveness, mercy and service... The evangelist Matthew convinces us who is our source of comfort, the strength for Christian life. He wonders what all the miracles, healings and other facts that Jesus did symbolize, mean, maybe He is the announced Messiah?... John the Baptist had a specific mission to fulfill, which he fully fulfilled, although humanly, it did not end well, because he was beheaded on Herod's orders... John the Baptist prepared the way for the coming Christ. It is very similar with us. We have a calling, as Christians, to be great people. To be 'pro' in our calling, and not to be passive in the 'humble' conviction of our hopelessness. We are to be people who may not have a violent heart, but whose hearts are fired up by the Gospel... John the Baptist is the greatest of God's people, but he did not experience the grace of the greatest elevation, which is being a disciple of Christ, being a child of God through baptism. This does not diminish his greatness in any way. Rather, it makes us realize how great a grace we have experienced through the fact that God has endowed us with faith, baptism, confirmation, the possibility of receiving Him in Communion and other sacraments... The figure of John the Baptist is constantly surprising and disturbing. He is constantly a reproach that we are not zealous enough, and is constantly Greater than John the Baptist? Than the one who is the greatest? It sounds like a paradox. But, as Jesus says, that is exactly how it is, because John the Baptist still belongs to the old order of things. What mattered was his personal effort, his personal perfection... Those who accepted Jesus are no longer left to their own devices. They have been given God's grace, the gift of union with God, of God's life in them. And this gives them more than we can achieve on our own... It may seem to us that we are worthless before God, that we mean little to Him. This is not true. We mean a lot to Him. It is precisely how much He has given us that testifies to this... ...Jesus, I ask for a life dedicated to You and Your mission...
