EWANGELIA - Mk 13, 24-32 (Sąd ostateczny)

Jezus powiedział do swoich uczniów:
«W owe dni, po wielkim ucisku, „słońce się zaćmi i księżyc nie da swego blasku. Gwiazdy będą spadać z nieba i moce na niebie” zostaną wstrząśnięte.
Wówczas ujrzą Syna Człowieczego, przychodzącego w obłokach z wielką mocą i chwałą. Wtedy pośle On aniołów i „zgromadzi swoich wybranych
z czterech stron świata, od krańca ziemi po kraniec nieba”.
A od figowca uczcie się przez podobieństwo. Kiedy już jego gałąź nabrzmiewa sokami i wypuszcza liście, poznajecie, że blisko jest lato. Tak i wy, gdy ujrzycie te wydarzenia, wiedzcie, że to blisko jest, u drzwi.
Zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Nie przeminie to pokolenie, aż się to wszystko stanie. Niebo i ziemia przeminą, ale słowa moje nie przeminą. Lecz o dniu owym lub godzinie nikt nie wie, ani aniołowie w niebie, ani Syn, tylko Ojciec».

MEDYTACJA

Dzisiejsza Ewangelia jest pełna kontrastów. Z jednej strony opis kataklizmu końca świata, z drugiej - Boża moc i chwała. Podobnie jest w życiu wielu z nas. Nas też spotykają kataklizmy, przeciwności, niepowodzenia i porażki. Pośród tych trudnych chwil zjawia się jednak troskliwy Bóg, choć nie zawsze Go dostrzegamy...

Jezus zachęca nas do uważności, do wypatrywania Jego obecności w tym, co piękne, spokojnie, kojące i radosne. Te znaki świadczą o nadchodzącym duchowym lecie...

Niepewność tego, co przed nami, czasem budzi lęk przed niekończącym się trudem, przed skutkami niepowodzeń, które zostaną z nami na zawsze. Tymczasem Jezus przypomina nam, że tu, na ziemi, zawsze jesteśmy w drodze. Tu wszystko przemija. Słuchając Ewangelii, spróbuj poszukać oparcia w Jego Słowie, które nigdy nie przemija...

"W owe dni, po tym ucisku, słońce się zaćmi i księżyc nie da swego blasku" (Mk 13, 24)...

Wielkie uciski i niezwykłe znaki niekoniecznie należy rozumieć dosłownie. Uciski i prześladowania to obraz wielkiej walki duchowej związanej z końcem świata. Walka duchowa najczęściej jednak odbywa się w sposób niewidzialny, w codzienności, w prostych wyborach...

Zapowiadany przez Jezusa koniec świata nie jest zapadnięciem się, destrukcją wszystkiego, ale spełnieniem nadziei. Nie potrafimy sobie tego wyobrazić. Nie jest to zapowiedź czegoś, co ma przerażać i dlatego nie należy spekulować i doszukiwać się znaczenia poszczególnych wydarzeń czy ich splotów. Syn Człowieczy, Jego krzyż jest kluczem do odczytania i zrozumienia historii...

Rzeczywistość, która nas otacza, jest miejscem objawienia Boga i musi być rozeznawania. Jezus powróci. Nie znamy dnia ani godziny, ale Jego przyjście jest pewne...

Wizje końca świata budzą skrajne emocje, choć najczęściej ich katastrofizm uruchamia w nas lęki. Tymczasem przyjście Pana i Jego sąd ma trzy poziomy: krzyża i zmartwychwstania, naszego naśladowania dzisiaj oraz przyszłości, spełnienia wszystkiego. To jest historia zbawienia, a nie kosmicznej katastrofy...

Warto być gotowym na to spotkanie z Jezusem na końcu świata, ale i na te już teraz, gdy przychodzi do nas w sakramentach, Słowie, wspólnocie, drugim człowieku, przyrodzie. Obyśmy byli w gronie tych, których Chrystus określa 'wybranymi', ludźmi żyjącymi Nim i Ewangelią, miłującymi, gdy każe nam zdać relacje z chrześcijaństwa...

On zapyta nas o miłość, nie tylko do tych, którzy są 'nam po drodze, ale i tych, którzy zupełnie nie są. Zapyta o konkretne owoce, czyny i relacje, a nie
o deklaracje...

Nie wiemy, kiedy nadejdzie dzień Sądu Ostatecznego, kiedy Chrystus powróci. Może dziś, może za pół roku, może za tysiąc lat. Nie wiemy. Wiemy za to, że stanie się to 'po wielkim ucisku'. Nie, nie chodzi o to, by zgadywać, czy to już ten dzisiejszy, gdy chrześcijanie w wielu krajach są mocno prześladowani, czy przyjdą kiedyś jeszcze większe...

Ucisk wierzących w Chrystusa, wielki ucisk, wpisany jest w Boże plany. On ciągle jest Panem. Pozwalając na zło, także na to zło, jakim jest prześladowanie wierzących w Jego Syna, wie co robi...

A ja? Cóż... Nikt mi nie obiecywał, że idąc za Chrystusem kroczyć będę w gronie ciągle odnoszących sukcesy. Krzyż na tej drodze jest nieunikniony.

Jezus odwołuje się do „wielkiego ucisku”, który spadnie na Jerozolimę i świątynię. Próba ta będzie polegała na dramatycznym wstrząsie, który ogarnie nasze punkty odniesienia, przedmioty podziwu i zachwytu, kryteria, którym ufamy w wyznaczaniu czasu i przestrzeni. Chodzi o słońce, księżyc i gwiazdy...

Gdy przygasa słońce, blednie także księżyc. Gdy przysłonięty jest blask Chrystusa, traci na uroku i wiarygodności Jego Kościół. Najsmutniejszym wyrzutem formułowanym dziś przez ludzi pod adresem wspólnot i instytucji kościelnych jest ten, że nie przekazują światu Dobrej Nowiny o zmartwychwstaniu...

Tylko Chrystus zasługuje na to, by Go pokochać i prawdziwie podziwiać. Wszystkiego tego doświadczymy o ile tylko Bóg uzna nas za godnego, by poznawać Jego miłość...

...Jezu, proszę o głębokie pragnienie życia z Tobą na wieczność... Proszę o Twoje przyjście, „Marana tha!”... Dziękuję za ofiarę na krzyżu, która objawia mi sens życia...

SUNDAY, XXXIII Sunday in Ordinary Time

GOSPEL - Mk 13, 24-32 (The Last Judgement)

Jesus said to his disciples:
«In those days, after the great tribulation, "the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from heaven and the powers
in the heavens" will be shaken.
Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with power and great glory. Then he will send the angels and "gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven".
And from the fig tree learn by parable. When its branch is already swollen and puts out leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near, at the doors.
Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things happen. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.'

MEDITATION

Today's Gospel is full of contrasts. On the one hand, the description of the cataclysm of the end of the world, on the other - God's power and glory. It is similar in the lives of many of us. We also encounter cataclysms, adversities, failures and defeats. In the midst of these difficult moments, however, the caring God appears, although we do not always notice Him...

Jesus encourages us to be attentive, to look for His presence in what is beautiful, peaceful, soothing and joyful. These signs testify to the coming spiritual summer...

The uncertainty of what lies ahead sometimes arouses fear of endless hardship, of the effects of failures that will remain with us forever. Meanwhile, Jesus reminds us that here, on earth, we are always on a journey. Here, everything passes. Listening to the Gospel, try to find support in His Word, which never fades away...

"In those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light" (Mark 13:24)...

Great tribulations and extraordinary signs should not necessarily be understood literally. Tribulations and persecutions are an image of a great spiritual battle associated with the end of the world. However, spiritual battle most often takes place in an invisible way, in everyday life, in simple choices...

The end of the world announced by Jesus is not a collapse, the destruction of everything, but the fulfillment of hope. We cannot imagine it. It is not an announcement of something that is to frighten, and therefore we should not speculate and look for the meaning of individual events or their intertwining. The Son of Man, His cross is the key to reading and understanding history...

The reality that surrounds us is a place of God's revelation and must be discerned. Jesus will return. We do not know the day or the hour, but His coming is certain...

Visions of the end of the world arouse extreme emotions, although most often their catastrophic nature triggers fears in us. Meanwhile, the coming of the Lord and His judgment has three levels: the cross and resurrection, our imitation today and the future, the fulfillment of everything. This is the history of salvation, not a cosmic catastrophe...

It is worth being ready for this meeting with Jesus at the end of the world, but also for those now, when He comes to us in the sacraments, the Word, the community, another person, nature. May we be among those whom Christ calls 'chosen', people living Him and the Gospel, loving when He tells us to give an account of Christianity...

He will ask us about love, not only for those who are 'on our way', but also for those who are completely not. He will ask about specific fruits, actions and relationships, not declarations...

We do not know when the Day of Judgment will come, when Christ will return. Maybe today, maybe in six months, maybe in a thousand years. We don't know. What we do know is that it will happen 'after the great tribulation'. No, it's not about guessing whether it's the present one, when Christians in many countries are being severely persecuted, or whether even greater ones will come one day...

The tribulation of believers in Christ, the great tribulation, is written into God's plans. He is still the Lord. By allowing evil, including the evil that is the persecution of believers in His Son, He knows what He is doing...

And me? Well... No one promised me that by following Christ I would walk in the company of those who are constantly successful. The cross on this path is inevitable.

Jesus refers to the "great tribulation" that will fall on Jerusalem and the temple. This test will consist of a dramatic shock that will encompass our points of reference, objects of admiration and delight, criteria we trust in determining time and space. It is about the sun, the moon and the stars...

When the sun fades, the moon also fades. When the light of Christ is obscured, His Church loses its charm and credibility. The saddest reproach that people make today against the communities and institutions of the Church is that they do not communicate the Good News of the resurrection to the world...

Only Christ deserves to be loved and truly admired. We will experience all this if only God deems us worthy of knowing His love...

...Jesus, I ask for a deep desire to live with You for eternity... I ask for Your coming, "Marana tha!"... I thank You for the sacrifice on the cross that reveals to me the meaning of life...
