EWANGELIA - J 6, 35-40 (Jest wolą Ojca, aby każdy, kto wierzy w Syna, miał życie wieczne)

Jezus powiedział do ludu:
«Ja jestem chlebem życia. Kto do Mnie przychodzi, nie będzie łaknął; a kto we Mnie wierzy, nigdy pragnąć nie będzie. Powiedziałem wam jednak: Widzieliście Mnie, a przecież nie wierzycie. Wszystko, co Mi daje Ojciec, do Mnie przyjdzie, a tego, który do Mnie przychodzi, precz nie odrzucę, ponieważ
z nieba zstąpiłem nie po to, aby pełnić swoją wolę, ale wolę Tego, który Mnie posłał.
Jest wolą Tego, który Mnie posłał, abym nic nie stracił z tego wszystkiego, co Mi dał, ale żebym to wskrzesił w dniu ostatecznym. To bowiem jest wolą Ojca mego, aby każdy, kto widzi Syna i wierzy w Niego, miał życie wieczne. A Ja go wskrzeszę w dniu ostatecznym».

MEDYTACJA

Zaskakujące są słowa Jezusa o tym, że przychodząc do Niego, nie będziemy łaknąć ani pragnąć. Większość z nas, pomimo dobrej relacji z Bogiem, zmaga się przecież z wieloma niezaspokojonymi pragnieniami. Czasem brakuje nam bliskości, poczucia bezpieczeństwa, czasami marzymy o większym pokoju lub harmonii życia. Nasze życie duchowe też często jest nienasycone...

Jezus mówi o sobie, że jest Chlebem, czyli prostym, zwykłym, codziennym pokarmem. Nasyca nas sobą poprzez wszystkie drobne codzienne wydarzenia...

Żyjemy, by dostać się do nieba. To jest priorytetowy cel, któremu potrzeba podporządkować wszystkie inne dążenia. Jeśli niebo jest wpatrywaniem się
w piękno Boga, radością z miłości niezmąconej grzechem, to warto przez krótki czas w doczesności doznawać ucisków. Dbanie o nieustanne życie w stanie łaski uświęcającej pielęgnuje gotowość na spotkanie z Bogiem po drugiej stronie życia...

‘Ja Jestem’ to imię, które Bóg wypowiedział, gdy objawił się Mojżeszowi. W Ewangelii Jana Bóg wielokrotnie odnosi do siebie to właśnie imię, dodając czasami dookreślenie tego, co to Imię czyni. W tej dyskusji jest to chleb, który daje życie jedzącemu go...

Jezus wskazuje na to, że On jest pokarmem dla naszego życia. Jest jednak w nas jakiś opór, ‘ciemna strona’, gdy nie wierzymy, nie przychodzimy i zamykamy się na Boga. Warto usłyszeć też w tych słowach Jezusa pragnienie ‘powszechnego zbawienia’, które jest wolą Ojca niebieskiego...

Pragnienie powszechnego zbawienia to nie heretycka mrzonka. Jezus mówi o tym wielokrotnie. On nikogo nie przymusza, nie zbawia na siłę, ale wierzymy, że ma moc, aby zbawić wszystkich...

Bóg zaprasza do życia spełnionego, szczęśliwego. Wmówiono nam, że aby coś znaczyć u swoich i innych, trzeba mieć władzę, sławę i majątek, ale prawdziwe szczęście i spełnienie daje tylko Bóg. On otwiera oczy na inne wartości: na miłość, przebaczenie, wprowadzanie pokoju, służbę, na najbliższych
i potrzebujących. Aby ta zmiana zadziała w nas potrzebny jest On, potrzebna jest Eucharystia, pokarm, który daje życie...

Rozproszenie i prześladowanie, dla wielu zagrożenie dla Kościoła, głoszącego Ewangelię, od początku były motorem rozwoju. Krew męczenników stała się nasieniem chrześcijan...

Konfrontacja może doprowadzić do zamknięcia w oblężonej twierdzy. Może także, i powinna, być okazją, by swoją wiarę pogłębić i wzmocnić tak, by w każdych okolicznościach być świadkiem nadziei, która jest w nas. Będzie to możliwe wówczas, gdy chrześcijaństwo przestanie być tylko i wyłącznie systemem mniej czy bardziej zrozumiałych nakazów i zakazów, i stanie się kroczeniem za pełnym mocy Zmartwychwstałym Panem...

Motorem, siłą i motywacją powinna być uległość Ojcu, pragnącemu, by 'każdy, kto wierzy w Syna i wierzy w Niego, miał życie wieczne'. Niczego nie nakazujmy, ale ukazujmy słowem i przez znaki, że Chrystus żyje i zbawia, nie chcąc nikogo stracić, ale wszystkich pozyskać dla wieczności...

Z relacji Boga Ojca do Syna wypływa miłość do człowieka. Nie ma większego dobra niż pragnienie życia wiecznego dla człowieka. To wyraz największej miłości Boga do każdego z nas...

Czasami słyszymy, że Bóg potępi człowieka. Potępienie nie jest pragnieniem Boga. To pragnienie funkcjonuje tylko w tak zwanym 'myśleniu po ludzku'. Bóg pragnie dla człowieka wieczności...

...Jezu, proszę o głębokie doświadczenie prawdy, że jestem upragniony przez Boga... Proszę o łaskę pragnienia przyjścia i spożywania chleba życia... Dziękuję za dar Eucharystii i jej dostępność...

WEDNESDAY, Weekday

GOSPEL - J 6, 35-40 (It is the Father's will that everyone who believes in the Son should have eternal life)

Jesus said to the people:
«I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not hunger; and whoever believes in me will never thirst. But I said to you, You have seen me, and yet you do not believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will in no way cast out, because
I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
This is the will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life. And I will raise him up on the last day.”

MEDITATION

Jesus' words are surprising: when we come to Him, we will neither hunger nor thirst. Most of us, despite having a good relationship with God, struggle with many unsatisfied desires. Sometimes we lack closeness, a sense of security, sometimes we dream of greater peace or harmony in life. Our spiritual life is also often insatiable...

Jesus refers to himself as Bread, i.e. simple, ordinary, everyday food. It saturates us with itself through all the little everyday events...

We live to get to heaven. This is the priority goal to which all other pursuits must be subordinated. If the sky is staring
in the beauty of God, in the joy of love untainted by sin, it is worth suffering tribulations for a short time in mortality. Maintaining a constant life in a state of sanctifying grace cultivates readiness to meet God on the other side of life...

'I Am' is the name that God spoke when He revealed Himself to Moses. In the Gospel of John, God repeatedly refers to himself this name, sometimes adding specific details about what this name does. In this discussion, it is the bread that gives life to those who eat it...

Jesus points out that He is food for our lives. However, there is some resistance in us, a 'dark side' when we do not believe, we do not come and we close ourselves off to God. It is also worth hearing in these words of Jesus the desire for 'universal salvation', which is the will of the heavenly Father...

The desire for universal salvation is not a heretical pipe dream. Jesus talks about this many times. He does not force anyone, he does not save anyone, but we believe that he has the power to save everyone...

God invites you to a fulfilled and happy life. We have been told that in order to mean something to our own people and others, we need to have power, fame and fortune, but only God gives true happiness and fulfillment. He opens his eyes to other values: love, forgiveness, peacemaking, service, loved ones
and those in need. For this change to work in us, we need Him, we need the Eucharist, the food that gives life...

Dispersion and persecution, for many a threat to the Church preaching the Gospel, were the driving force of development from the beginning. The blood
of the martyrs became the seed of Christians...

A confrontation may lead to being locked in a besieged fortress. It can also, and should, be an opportunity to deepen and strengthen one's faith so as to be
a witness of the hope that is within us in all circumstances. This will be possible when Christianity ceases to be only a system of more or less understandable orders and prohibitions, and becomes a way of following the powerful Risen Lord...

The driving force, strength and motivation should be submission to the Father who wants 'everyone who believes in the Son and believes in Him to have eternal life'. Let us not command anything, but let us show with words and signs that Christ lives and saves, not wanting to lose anyone, but to win everyone for eternity...

Love for man flows from the relationship of God the Father to the Son. There is no greater good for man than the desire for eternal life. It is an expression
of God's greatest love for each of us...

Sometimes we hear that God will condemn man. Condemnation is not God's desire. This desire only functions in so-called 'human thinking'. God wants eternity for man...

...Jesus, I am asking for a deep experience of the truth that I am desired by God... I am asking for the grace to desire to come and eat the bread of life... Thank you for the gift of the Eucharist and its availability...
