EWANGELIA - J 3, 7b-15 (Trzeba się powtórnie narodzić)

Jezus powiedział do Nikodema:
«Trzeba wam się powtórnie narodzić. Wiatr wieje tam, gdzie chce, i szum jego słyszysz, lecz nie wiesz, skąd przychodzi i dokąd podąża. Tak jest z każdym, który narodził się z Ducha».
Na to rzekł do Niego Nikodem: «Jakżeż to się może stać?»
Odpowiadając na to, rzekł mu Jezus: «Ty jesteś nauczycielem Izraela, a tego nie wiesz? Zaprawdę, zaprawdę, powiadam ci, że to mówimy, co wiemy,
i o tym świadczymy, co widzieliśmy, a świadectwa naszego nie przyjmujecie. Jeżeli wam mówię o tym, co ziemskie, a nie wierzycie, to jakżeż uwierzycie temu, co wam powiem o sprawach niebieskich? I nikt nie wstąpił do nieba, oprócz Tego, który z nieba zstąpił – Syna Człowieczego.
A jak Mojżesz wywyższył węża na pustyni, tak trzeba, by wywyższono Syna Człowieczego, aby każdy, kto w Niego wierzy, miał życie wieczne».

MEDYTACJA

Jezus porównuje Ducha Świętego do wiatru, który jest nieprzewidywalny i całkowicie wolny. Nie dotyczą Go schematy i stagnacja. Duch Święty chce nas inspirować, ale nie narzuca się. Człowiek może podążyć za Jego natchnieniem, ale nie musi...

„Jakżeż to się może stać?”. Nikodem zadaje identyczne pytanie jak Maryja, która dowiaduje się, że ma zostać matką Jezusa. Podobnie jak Ona nie boi się przyznać, że nie rozumie. Zadaje Bogu pytania. Wykształcony faryzeusz, nauczyciel, nie wstydzi się wejść w rolę ucznia. Nie zamyka się w swoich poglądach, ale szuka odpowiedzi...

Wejście na drogę życia chrześcijańskiego, to przede wszystkim przygoda duchowa. Właśnie na tym poziomie odczuwamy ciągłe działanie i prowadzenie przez Ducha Bożego. Potrzeba nam wielkiej wrażliwości i elastyczności, aby poczuć te poruszenia. Sztywność i zatwardziałość sprawiają, że Duch nie dokona swojego dzieła...

Przyjmijmy Ducha Zmartwychwstałego Chrystusa, aby w tym Duchu kształtować swoje życie, aby dać się Jemu prowadzić. Bez obecności Ducha, który rozlewa się w naszych sercach, jest niemożliwe wyznawać Jezusa jako Pana...

Nie wiemy, czy Nikodem przychodzi spotkać Pana w Jerozolimie, w Betanii, w domu przyjaciół, czy gdzieś indziej. Nie jest wszakże ważne, gdzie, ale jak. Nikodem ma świadomość tego, kim jest Jezus, że jest Mesjaszem. Nie boi się stanąć po Jego stronie w sporze z arcykapłanami. Nikodem przychodzi do Jezusa, by poznać, zrozumieć, być oświeconym, przejść z ciemności do światła...

Dzisiejszy fragment Ewangelii Jana jest ukazaniem drogi oświecenia, przejściem przez noc do światła dnia (śmierć i zmartwychwstanie), przejściem od Prawa do Ewangelii, od niewoli praw i przykazań do wolności synów. To jest też dynamika, która powinna nam towarzyszyć: śmierć-życie, ciemność-światło...

Wciąż doświadczamy pokusy opierania swojej wiary i relacji z Bogiem nie na zaufaniu i powierzeniu się Jemu, ale na naszym ‘rozumieniu’, ‘pojmowaniu’ lub ‘działaniu’. Na szczęście Duch Jezusa z wyrozumiałością i delikatnością przeprowadza nas przez ciemność do światła...

Możemy zacząć od nowa. Jezus tłumaczy Nikodemowi, że jest to możliwe, kiedy przejdziemy z naszych 'śmierci' (z grzechów, słabości, kompleksów, niewiary we własne siły i umiejętności) do życia (bez nich)...

Życie Ewangelią nie jest łatwe. Jednak otwórzmy się na Boga, aby żyć bardziej i lepiej. Aby zacząć, jeśli jest to konieczne, od nowa. Tą przemianą damy o Nim świadectwo...

Bóg jest wieczny, panuje nad światem. Jego władza nie zmienia się. Człowiek w obliczu wielkości sił przyrody może czuć się mały, Bóg jednak nieustannie nad nim czuwa, bo jest On potężniejszy od wszelkich żywiołów...

Przykazania Boże i świętość są tak samo stałe, jak porządek natury. Kontemplujmy Boga. Jego wielkość i wszechmoc są zaproszeniem do tego, aby zbliżyć się do Niego z czcią, pokorną ufnością, szczerym i czystym sercem...

Niepokój wyrwał Nikodema z bezpiecznego świata o dawno ustalonym porządku. To on nie pozwalał mu spokojnie żyć, lecz przynaglał, by szukać odpowiedzi na pytanie, kim jest Jezus. Nikodem wychodzi z roli nauczyciela i staje się na nowo uczniem, by dojść do Prawdy, choć wie, że może zapłacić za to wysoką cenę. Jest na to gotów, by osiągnąć pokój w sercu...

Nie staniemy się wolni dzięki konwenansom i dobrze umocowanej pozycji w świecie. Co najwyżej możemy stać się niewolnikami tak zwanego 'świętego spokoju'. Ale czy naprawdę wtedy będziemy szczęśliwi? Czy naprawdę wystarczy nam komfort ziemskiego życia, gdy gdzieś tam czeka Prawda? Dbajmy o to, by nie wygasł w nas ogień błogosławionego niepokoju...

...Jezu, proszę o całkowitą uległość natchnieniom Ducha Świętego... Proszę o łaskę zrozumienia misterium wywyższonego Syna Człowieczego... Dziękuję za Twoje Słowo, obecność w Chlebie-Eucharystii, które oświecają moją drogę...

GOSPEL - J 3, 7b-15 (You have to be born again)

Jesus said to Nicodemus:
«You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
Then Nicodemus said to him, "How can this be?"
Jesus answered him, “You are the teacher of Israel, and you do not know these things? Truly, truly, I say to you, we say what we know,
and we testify to what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony. If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? And no one ascended into heaven except He who came down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.”

MEDITATION

Jesus compares the Holy Spirit to the wind, which is unpredictable and completely free. Patterns and stagnation do not concern Him. The Holy Spirit wants to inspire us, but he does not impose himself. Man can follow His inspiration, but he does not have to...

"How can this happen?" Nicodemus asks the same question as Mary, who finds out that she is to become the mother of Jesus. Just like she is not afraid to admit that she does not understand. He asks God questions. An educated Pharisee, a teacher, is not ashamed to take on the role of a disciple. He doesn't limit himself to his views, but looks for answers...

Entering the path of Christian life is, above all, a spiritual adventure. It is at this level that we feel the constant action and guidance of the Spirit of God. We need great sensitivity and flexibility to feel these movements. Stiffness and hardness prevent the Spirit from accomplishing His work...

Let us accept the Spirit of the Risen Christ in order to shape our lives in this Spirit and let ourselves be led by Him. Without the presence of the Spirit who pours out in our hearts, it is impossible to confess Jesus as Lord...

We do not know whether Nicodemus comes to meet the Lord in Jerusalem, in Bethany, at a friend's house, or somewhere else. However, it is not important where, but how. Nicodemus is aware of who Jesus is, that he is the Messiah. She is not afraid to take His side in the dispute with the high priests. Nicodemus comes to Jesus to know, to understand, to be enlightened, to pass from darkness to light...

Today's fragment of the Gospel of John shows the path of enlightenment, a passage through night to the light of day (death and resurrection), a passage from the Law to the Gospel, from the slavery of laws and commandments to the freedom of sons. This is also the dynamic that should accompany us: death-life, darkness-light...

We still experience the temptation to base our faith and relationship with God not on trust and entrusting ourselves to Him, but on our 'understanding', 'understanding' or 'action'. Fortunately, the Spirit of Jesus with understanding and gentleness leads us through the darkness into the light...

We can start over. Jesus explains to Nicodemus that this is possible when we move from our 'deaths' (sins, weaknesses, complexes, disbelief in our own strengths and skills) to life (without them)...

God is eternal, he rules over the world. His power does not change. Man may feel small in the face of the great forces of nature, but God is constantly watching over him, because He is more powerful than all the elements...

God's commandments and holiness are as permanent as the order of nature. Let's contemplate God. His greatness and omnipotence are an invitation to approach Him with reverence, humble trust, and a sincere and pure heart...

Anxiety tore Nicodemus from the safety of a world of long-established order. It was he who did not allow him to live in peace, but urged him to look for the answer to the question of who Jesus is. Nikodem leaves the role of a teacher and becomes a student again to reach the Truth, although he knows that he may pay a high price for it. He is ready to achieve peace in his heart...

We will not become free thanks to conventions and a well-established position in the world. At most, we can become slaves of the so-called 'peace of mind'. But will we really be happy then? Is the comfort of our earthly life really enough for us when the Truth is waiting somewhere out there? Let us make sure that the fire of blessed anxiety does not extinguish within us...

...Jesus, I am asking for complete submission to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit... I am asking for the grace to understand the mystery of the exalted Son of Man... Thank you for Your Word and presence in the Bread-Eucharist, which illuminate my path...
